The Annihilator Set (2007)
The Annihilator Set is the second main expansion in the Battles in Time series. Officially announced by GE Fabbri on the 9th of January 2007, the set launched nationwide on the 23rd of February 2007.
Compared to the massive 275-card launch of the Exterminator series, Annihilator was a much tighter release. It featured just 100 new cards, numbered sequentially from 276 to 375.
For years, collectors have wondered why the Annihilator set was so small. The prevailing community theory points to immense production scheduling pressure. Because Series 3 of the television show hadn't aired yet when the cards were designed, the production team only had a single new episode to pull fresh material from: the 2006 Christmas Special, The Runaway Bride.
To hit the 100-card mark without Series 3 assets, the team filled out the checklist with a somewhat random assortment of classic Series 1 and 2 characters. However, they did manage to include one massive teaser: card number 375 was Martha Jones, serving as an exciting sneak peek for the upcoming third television series.
Despite its smaller size, the set was an absolute hit with fans, securing strong enough sales to immediately get the third expansion—the Invader set—greenlit for production.

How to Identify Annihilator Cards
While the set size shrank, GE Fabbri kept the core pack odds identical to the previous series. The 100 cards were distributed across the standard five tiers:
75 Common Cards (C): 8 per pack
15 Rare Cards (R): 1 per pack
6 Super-Rare Cards (SR): 1 in every 6 packs
4 Ultra-Rare Cards (UR): 1 in every 24 packs
1 Golden Ticket Card: 1 in every 1,000 packs
📦 A New Way to Buy: The distribution method for the official magazine shifted significantly with this release. Unlike the Exterminator era, individual Annihilator packs were never bundled by themselves with the fortnightly magazines. Instead, the magazines came with dual packs containing a total of 12 cards split evenly down the middle: 6 classic Exterminator cards and 6 new Annihilator cards.
Because Annihilator cards were mixed directly into dual packs alongside older Exterminator cards, and the new set needing to be distinguishable from the previous set. GE Fabbri introduced several distinct visual changes to help collectors tell the sets apart at a glance.
When inspecting your cards, look for these four tell-tale signs:
Green Rarity Bubbles: The circular rarity symbol in the bottom-left corner is styled with a distinct green oval background, a sharp contrast to the red used in the Exterminator set.
Green Set Numbering: The card number in the bottom-right corner is printed in green ink and is displayed out of the new set total of 100 (e.g., 002/100).
The "Annihilator" Logo: The most obvious indicator is the bold, silver ANNIHILATOR branding stamped directly into the bottom-center border of the card artwork.
Updated Copyright Text: If you flip the card over, the copyright notice on the back has been updated to read "© BBC 2007" (whereas Exterminator cards display a 2006 copyright date).
