The Annihilator Set is considered to be the second main set within the Battles in Time series. The set itself was announced in a press release from GE FABBRI on the 9th of January 2007 launching on the 23rd of Febraury 2007. The Annihilator series was far smaller than the Exterminator series with only a further 100 cards numbered 276 to 375 featuring more characters from the first and second series, up to and including the most recent episode of the time, The Runaway Bride. The final card in the Annihilator Set was Martha Jones which was a sneak-peak for the upcoming third series.
It is unknown why the Annihilator set was so small, however it is believed there was pressure to release a new set, and as Series 3 of Doctor Who was not released at the time, the production team behind the set were only able to use one new episode for new cards resulting in what appeared to be random characters and cards presumably in an attempt to get to 100 cards.
This set was well accepted however, and prompted enough sales to gain commision of a third set, the Invader set.
The Annihilator set though smaller remained with the same rarities and were split into the following categories:
75 (C) Common cards (8 in every pack)
15 (R) Rare cards (1 in every pack)
6 (SR) Super-Rare cards (1 in every 6 packs)
4 (UR) Ultra-Rare cards (1 in every 24 packs)
1 Golden Ticket card (1 in every 1000 packs)
Unlike the previous series, no individual Annihilator packs were placed with magazines, but instead dual packs containing 12 cards (6 Exterminator and 6 Annihilator).
My Render of what the packs for this set looked like, as it is incredibly hard to scan the packs themselves due to the foil packaging. Please do not re-use without permission as alot of work went into re-mastering these. Thank you.
With the Annihilator cards needing to be differentiated from the Exterminator set, subtle changes were made to the colouring of the rarity symbol and the card number. For Annihilator, it was green. You can also see that the number of cards is out of 100. The most significant tell-tale sign is obviously the "Annihilator" label on the base of the card. It also features "BBC 2007" on the rear of the card.
Please click on the tick-list poster to view the full Set. I have scanned each card and placed them in one coherent file for your viewing pleasure. Due to the compression of PDF files, they are not as high resolution as my initial scans; however, I believe they are still the highest-definition scans you will find in one place.
If you do not want to do this, I have also placed the individual cards at a lower resolution below.
