Custom Card Project

Before the official return of Battles in Time in 2026, I created a personal custom card project exploring how the trading-card game might have developed had it continued beyond its original 2006–2009 run.

The project uses the visual design language of the original GE Fabbri cards as its foundation. Using Photoshop, I recreated the card layouts and adapted them for characters, companions, monsters and other material from later Doctor Who television eras that were not represented in the original card game.

The project began as an exercise in reproducing the distinctive design characteristics of the original cards, including their borders, typography, spacing, statistical layout and overall composition. High-resolution imagery from Series 5 onwards and the subsequent modern era was adapted to fit within these recreated templates.

The resulting cards are entirely unofficial and were produced as fan artwork. They are intended to explore how the Battles in Time format could have been extended into later eras of Doctor Who rather than to represent previously undiscovered or unreleased GE Fabbri products.

The cards and promotional graphics shown in this section are custom fan artwork and fictitious mock-ups. They were not produced or distributed by GE Fabbri and did not form part of the official Battles in Time card releases between 2006 and 2009.

The artwork combines original layout work with Doctor Who imagery and other copyrighted elements belonging to their respective rights holders. It is presented on this website for archival, illustrative and fan purposes and is not an official Doctor Who or Battles in Time product.

The versions displayed on this website have been optimised for web presentation and are provided at a reduced resolution. Higher-resolution versions may be retained separately from the web versions to preserve the original project files and artwork.

Please do not present these cards as official Battles in Time releases or use the artwork in a way that implies endorsement or association with the original publishers or rights holders.
