The Ultimate Monsters set was the third main expansion to the Battles in Time series, and the fourth set overall not including the Daleks vs Cybermen sets, and contained 225 brand new cards. The set itself was announced in a press release by GE Fabbri on the 11th of February 2008 and launched a month later on the 5th of March 2008 beginning with a special issue which included four packs of cards. As with the previous sets, additional packs were also available for purchase seperately.
These new cards differed from any other Battles in Time set, for the first time ever including "classic who" within the series, and as such featured a new graphic displaying what doctor the character interacted with. The Ultimate Monsters set included 225 new cards, numbered from 601-825. The set itself comprised of a mix of "Classic" and "New" series up to and including the most recent episode of the time which was Voyage of the Damned.
The Ultimate Monsters set was split into the following categories:
185 (C) Common cards (8 in every pack)
25 (R) Rare cards (1 in every pack)
10 (SR) Super-Rare cards (1 in every 6 packs)
5 (UR) Ultra-Rare cards (1 in every 24 packs)
1 Golden Ticket card (1 in every 1000 packs)

Ultimate Monsters Card Rundown
This card series has a few more differences than standard set modifications. The rarity and series counter are light blue and the set name is visible as with the other sets.
As Ultimate Monsters cards brought characters from the classic era into the younger viewership, there were additions to the cards informing the holder of which Doctor interacted with the character or item.
The Doctor they fought is on the card twice, one anywhere where the image allows and the other below the series name on the base of the card. Ultimate Monsters cards featured the copyright date of BBC 2008 on the back.

The card-mounted special was priced at £4.99 and came with four packs of Ultimate Monsters trading cards
New website announcing the release
Accompanying the release of the Ultimate Monsters set was a new 'Battles in Time' website, which was found at www.battlesintimemonsters.com.
Unfortunately, a significant portion of the website's Flash media is inaccessible. However, a video is available that provides a glimpse of the homepage's appearance upon entering the site. In the "Buy the Special" section, a brief preview of the Ultimate Monsters special is available, showcasing a few pages to entice readers.
