The modern Battles in Time revival shifted into high gear on the 28th of May 2026 with an official announcement on the popular web-series The Whoniverse Show. Master Replicas and Heathside Trading unveiled Obliterator, the first true randomized expansion of the 2026 era.
Unlike the fixed Retroduction box set released in April 2026, Obliterator returns completely to the classic roots of the franchise: an addictive booster-pack format designed to be collected, traded, and compiled piece by piece.
The set focuses heavily on everything that has occurred in the series since Journey's End, finally granting dedicated cards to the Matt Smith, Peter Capaldi, Jodie Whittaker, and Ncuti Gatwa eras.
The expansion introduces a tight checklist of 142 cards in total. Each individual booster pack contains 6 cards, featuring high-spec UV-glossed base cards alongside premium enhanced foils.
The master set is divided across an intricate hierarchy of legacy rarities and brand-new print technologies:
92 Common Cards (C): High-spec UV-glossed card stock.
40 Rare Cards (R): Enhanced with a striking rainbow foil overlay (1 per pack).
10 Super-Rare Cards (SR): Printed on premium holofoil card stock (1 in every 18 packs).
2 Ultra-Chase "Vortex Rare" Cards: Utilizing an incredible, all-new metallic print technology (1 in every 720 packs).
6 Oversized Box Topper Cards: Premium oversized collector inserts found inside sealed booster displays (1 in every 36 packs / 1 per box). (There was also a 7th Oversized Topper Card included with the albums which were available seperately)
Creative Director Ben Robinson intentionally randomized the master checklist numbering, but he couldn't resist a direct nod to Series 14 lore. Card #73 in the set is officially dedicated to the "Mysterious Woman" from the acclaimed episode 73 Yards.

The road to the official Obliterator reveal was not entirely smooth sailing. GE Fabbri and Master Replicas originally planned to lift the curtain on the new expansion during The Whoniverse Show on the 22nd of May 2026. However, an unexpected social media leak potentially upended the marketing timeline. Just days before the scheduled broadcast, a channel uploaded a teaser video to TikTok. While an earlier leak had accurately tipped off the community about the "Obliterator" set name, this video provided the first raw look at physical card mock-ups.
The leaked prototypes featured highly unusual design anomalies:
Missing Attributes: The cards completely lacked set numbers, rarity indicators, or background faction symbols.
Alternative Layouts: Crucially, a single card was accidentally showcased clearly enough for fans to read. The card was dedicated to Kate Lethbridge-Stewart, but instead of standard lower-border numbering, it featured a temporary "006" stamped directly at the top of the frame.
The description on the leaked prototype read:
"As the head of UNIT, Kate believes that it is always better to try science and diplomacy before turning to a military response."
Through discussion with insiders within Master Replica's there are 20 of these prototype cards printed per "set" and there are only 5 sets in existence with most being archived. The 20 cards consist of the first 20 cards of the Obliterator set, and were shown in the TikTok video and on the Whoniverse Show. Below are the scans of these prototype cards.
In order to promote Battles in Time, 3 different Whoniverse cards were produced and given to influencers. These cards were then shown on Instagram as they were posted to them. According to each person, 100 cards were printed of each type. The persons of whom they were printed for, were George Clarke an English social media personality, YouTuber and podcast host; Christel Dee, a host of the Whoniverse Show and Tia Kofi who also hosts the Whoniverse show.
In a note given to each of the presenters it was stated that the stats replicate that of "Rose" however reviewing this the stats do not match the original cards so it may be that there is a Rose card within the Obliterator set matching the stats on these cards.
In a first for Battles in Time, the Obliterator set was released initially with a Limited Edition version of the print run. Though at the time of writing, no physical cards are in collectors' hands there is specific information that is known and these are bullet pointed below.
Availability: Exclusive to Master Replicas (launched 28 May 2026).
Print Run: Strictly limited to 2,026 display boxes worldwide, however the exact number of cards is unknown due to seperate sales of 5 packs.
Set Logo Foil: Gold Foil Obliterator branding stamped below every card.
Box Security: Factory sealed with a tamper-proof authenticity sticker.
Purchase Method: Only available to buy as a full 36-pack display box or packs of 5 packs.
Alongside the main set expansion, Master Replicas launched a premium, dedicated collector's binder specifically tailored for the Limited Edition Obliterator collection.
Priced at £24.99, this item was strictly limited to a worldwide run of just 1,000 units.
Unlike the classic mid-2000s top-loading A4 albums, this updated release features a highly modern design optimized to securely store and protect all 142 regular cards in the expansion checklist:
Side-Loading Pockets: Built with an integrated, side-loading page layout that physically prevents cards from slipping or falling out of the top when the binder is moved or inverted.
Exclusive Oversized Box Topper: Each binder comes packaged complete with a special, exclusive oversized collector’s card that cannot be obtained anywhere else.
On the 28th of May 2026, at 16:00 BST, the Obliterator expansion officially went live on the Master Replicas storefront, strategically timed to coincide with the broadcast of The Whoniverse Show. The drop gave collectors their very first opportunity to purchase both the limited 1,000-unit binder albums and the exclusive pre-order booster boxes.
The Limited Edition sealed booster boxes launched at a retail price of £107.64. However, Master Replicas offered a tiered incentive structure, giving active Collectors Club members a specialized discount at checkout alongside priority processing at the point of fulfillment.
Because this historic launch was structured as a synchronized pre-order event, production is currently wrapping up at the factory. The physical card inventory, limited binder albums, and sealed display boxes are officially scheduled to begin shipping out to collectors worldwide in July 2026.
Released on Thursday 9th of July, the unlimited edition of the Obliterator Set was released for pre-order with an expected shipping date of September. There were some subtle differences noted on the promotional art for the website.
Availability: Standard retail stock though sealed boxes could be bought from Master Replicas (launched Thursday 9th of July)
Print Run: Far larger print run to accommodate retail selling.
Set Logo Foil: Silver Foil Obliterator branding stamped on every card matching the Retroduction set.
Box Security: Standard retail plastic wrap.
Purchase Method: Available to buy as individual booster boxes from Master Replicas' website and eventually retail.
Alongside the Unlimited expansion, Master Replicas launched a premium, dedicated collector's binder specifically tailored for the Unlimited Obliterator collection.
Priced at £24.99, this item unlike the previous album appears to not have a limited run.
Additionally, the album also includes an oversized card as the Limited Edition version did. It also has had a design change showing more of a lighter colour with light whites and blues rather than the dark purple similar to the Ultimate Monsters background seen previously.
On the 9th of July 2026, at 16:00 BST, the Obliterator expansion officially went live on the Master Replicas website.
The Unlimited Edition sealed booster boxes launched at a retail price of £107.64 matching the Limited edition boxes however these boxes had a larger print run compared to the Limited Edition and will be available in stores.
The unlimited version also appears, based on the promotional image, to have more of a cutout around characters matching closer to what the original Battles in Time booster boxes appeared like.
With the different releases of the Obliterator set, the packs have to be differentiated. Though the art appears to continue changing there appears to be different diamond logos to the right of the pack designs labelling each pack as being either "Limited Edition" with a gold diamond, or "Unlimited Edition" with a sliver diamond.
Unlike the Super Rose lenticular cards of the past—which featured a gold back alongside the familiar Ultra Rare lenticular finish—the release of Obliterator introduces an entirely new tier of chase card: The Vortex Card.
Forged completely from solid metal, Vortex cards utilize a specialized ink technology that allows detailed artwork to be printed directly onto the surface. The underlying metal shines through on the title, category headers, and select icons, featuring a striking Gold finish for Limited Edition and a sleek Silver finish for Unlimited Edition.
Marking a historic first for Battles in Time, these cards deliver an exceptionally premium, weighty feel. While Vortex cards haven't hit store shelves just yet, their substantial weight and unbendable metal construction will make them easy to identify once they arrive.
