Daleks vs Cybermen Set

The Daleks vs Cybermen (DvC) series was a standalone special card collection distributed exclusively with the Daleks vs Cybermen Special issue of the Battles in Time magazine.

The magazine featured a reversible cover design. One side displayed a Dalek-themed cover, while the magazine could be turned over to reveal a separate Cyberman-themed cover on the reverse.

The DvC collection consists of 24 cards, distributed through separate Dalek and Cyberman booster packs. The collection used card finishes that differed from those normally associated with the standard Battles in Time rarity structure.

Cards 01–16 were designated as Common cards. Despite this classification, all 16 cards were printed on shiny metallic foil. This finish was more commonly associated with Rare cards in the standard collections.

Cards 17–24 were designated as Rare cards and featured a textured wave-foil finish. These cards also had four variations of the same card, with four distinct images represented across the variants.

The complete DvC checklist therefore consists of:

• The 16 "Commons": Cards 01 through 16 were technically designated as Commons, but they were entirely printed on, shiny metallic foil (a finish usually reserved for Rare cards).

• The 8 "Rares": The final cards in the checklist were designated as Rares due to a textured "wave" foil overlay. These cards featured 4 distinct images across the variants, bringing the complete set total to 24 cards.

The Exclusive DvC Board Game

The Daleks vs Cybermen Special issue also included a standalone board game based on the two factions. The game was supplied with the magazine and included the components required to play, including:

• A folding game board incorporated into the centre of the magazine

• Two gaming dice

• Plastic card stands designed to hold Battles in Time cards and allow them to be used as game pieces on the board

The inclusion of the board game made the Daleks vs Cybermen Special a combined magazine, trading-card and gaming release rather than a standard Battles in Time card issue.
