Unseen Card Images
Welcome to the card image archive—a rare, un-cropped look at the definitive visual history of Doctor Who: Battles in Time.
I am incredibly excited to announce that I have recently acquired a selection of the original digital image files used to print the cards.
For the first time, you can view these iconic images exactly as they existed on the production line—completely free of the visual obstructions and irregularities caused by the foil or lenticular printing processes seen on the physical card scans. These files reveal beautiful details, extended backgrounds, and crisp clarity that were previously hidden or cropped out on the physical cards we collected.
Twenty years ago, the original, official Battles in Time website uploaded a small selection of these raw images for fans to download—the classic Regeneration image (displayed to the right) is a perfect example. Back then, those official downloads were typically capped at 300x419 pixels. It was just enough resolution to appreciate the un-cropped art, but not enough to, say, counterfeit or print your own high-quality replica cards.
While I have been incredibly fortunate to grant access to the full HD versions of these production masters, I want to respect and protect the integrity of the original artwork. Therefore, I have made the deliberate archival decision to upload these new images in that exact same 300x419 pixel format used by the original website two decades ago.
This ensures that these magnificent pieces of Doctor Who history are properly documented and preserved for the community to enjoy, while keeping the source assets fully protected.
I am hoping as new sets are released, I can continue updating them.
How?
Bridging a 20-year gap is no easy feat. A vast majority of these images had to be extracted directly from the original printer INDD files. This wouldn't have been possible without the immense kindness of Ben Robinson, Creative Director of Master Replicas, who was also a key part of the original production team back in the day. Ben incredibly took the time to crop these files out of the original layouts for the archive.

Because we are working with complex, decades-old layout files, a few of the images have some accidental cropping issues. Rest assured, I am aware of these glitches and will be working on a fix for them soon!
Additionally, due to the extensive gap between the original print runs and the present day, a small portion of the digital artwork is currently considered lost—specifically the Test Set, Daleks vs Cybermen, and the Adventurer set. However, hope is definitely not lost for these missing sets! The vast majority of the entire series has been successfully saved, offering an unparalleled opportunity to see the true, pictures behind the cards we grew up with.
Though like the rest of the site, these images are for the benefit of everyone, however if you use these images I would appreciate credit as numerous hours of work has gone into this website to get to this stage thank you!
Due to over 1000 image files I have seperated these into their corresponding pages. If I am able to get other sets, I will add them when I can!
