The First Doctor Limited Edition Set (2026)
On Tuesday 16 June 2026, Master Replicas and BBC Studios announced the First Doctor Limited Edition Set. The release introduced the Doctor Focus series, a format of smaller specialised collections centred on individual incarnations of the Doctor.
The Doctor Focus series is designed to focus on a particular Doctor's era, including their companions, stories and adversaries. The First Doctor set concentrates on the era of William Hartnell and material from the programme's earliest years.
Set Composition and Checklist
Unlike the standard Battles in Time booster format, the First Doctor Limited Edition Set is supplied as a complete 15-card collector's pack. Each pack contains the full checklist, meaning that the set does not use randomised booster distribution.
The collection also expands the range of early Doctor Who characters and monsters represented within the Battles in Time card format. It includes dedicated cards for members of the First Doctor's original TARDIS crew:
Susan Foreman
Ian Chesterton
Barbara Wright
The set also introduces card appearances for early adversaries and characters that had not previously been represented in Battles in Time. These include Koquillion from The Rescue and the Monoids from The Ark.
The First Doctor Limited Edition Set therefore extends the card range into material from the earliest television stories and establishes the Doctor Focus format as a separate type of release within the modern Battles in Time collection.
Boxes:
At the time of writing, the First Doctor Limited Edition Set is the only Doctor Focus set to have been released.
The set represents a change in packaging from previous Battles in Time releases. Rather than being distributed with a special edition magazine or in a conventional display box, the 15-card collection is supplied in a small cardboard box approximately the same size as the cards.
Each box contains the complete 15-card set. The cards are placed inside the box in a random order, meaning that while the contents are not randomised, their sequence within the box can vary.

Visual Design
The First Doctor Limited Edition Set uses a card design intended to reflect the visual style of Doctor Who's 1960s television production.
Monochrome imagery: All 15 cards feature black-and-white imagery sourced from the First Doctor era. The images are incorporated into a card design using white and silver foil elements.
Limited production: The collection was produced as a worldwide limited run of 1,000 packs.
Retail price and distribution: The set was sold at £24.99. Master Replicas stated at launch that the collection was exclusive to MasterReplicas.com and was not intended for general retail distribution through newsagents or hobby shops.
The combination of monochrome source imagery and the white and silver foil treatment distinguishes the First Doctor Limited Edition Set from the standard Battles in Time card designs.
